New name, same amazing cakes!

Five years ago a father from the East Coast contacted me, anxious to get a birthday cake to his son, a Cadet at the Air Force Academy by the next day. I was able to fulfill his wishes, delivering the cake to his son, and sending a picture of the cake to him. He was so pleased that he put a blog about my service on a website for military families of Cadet students at the AFA.

I have been honored with many, MANY requests since then, surprising the Cadets with wonderful birthday cakes, depicting a caricature of them involved with their birthday and dreams, or activities at the AFA that they are involved in. Parents from all over the world call me to make their cakes, and girlfriends have called too! I take a picture of the cake before it leaves the shop, and a picture of your Cadet when we deliver their cake. The cakes and delivery are discounted, and I always include paper plates, plastic forks and a knife at no charge.

At graduation, I have been overjoyed to meet some of the parents when they pick up their Cadet’s graduation cake. Some Cadets have had a cake from me every year, up to graduation. I feel a touch of sadness (well, actually the moms and I bawl our heads off) when I know that my relationship with the Cadets and their families end at that time. This has been a great, memorable journey.
